Bucks Co. St. Patrick's Day Parade Still On As Of Wednesday

The parade Saturday had not been canceled, despite two coronavirus cases being reported in the county and Philly's parade shutting down.

FALLS TOWNSHIP, PA — As of Wednesday afternoon, plans for the Bucks County St. Patrick's Day Parade were still on, despite mounting concerns about the spread of the new coronavirus.

Parade organizer Angel Galloway told Patch Wednesday afternoon that plans for the parade, in Falls and Bristol townships, were still on. She said a parade committee meeting was scheduled for Wednesday night and that the issue would be discussed then.

"The Bucks County St. Patrick’s Day Parade is still on for parade day March 14th," organizers said in a post on the parade's website Wednesday. "If we get contacted by the county or the townships of Bristol or Falls we will let everybody know. If you have concerns and need to cancel please let me know by Friday."

Bristol Township Council President Craig Bowen said Wednesday afternoon that the parade "is not a Bristol Township event, so we have no say on the parade."

Parade organizers and representatives of Falls Township did not immediately respond to requests for comment Wednesday afternoon. Patch will update this post with more information as it becomes available.

The Bucks County parade is scheduled to step off on New Falls Road in Levittown at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Parade units are expected to include Irish dance groups, marching bands, pipe bands, mummers, local law enforcement, community groups, local Irish-American families and more.

Also scheduled are a pre-parade mass at Conwell Egan High School and an after-party at the Ancient Order of Hibernians.
