BRISTOL, PA — Bristol Riverside Theatre is inviting you to leave your troubles at the door and come hear the music play during its upcoming production of the classic Broadway musical, "Cabaret."

Directed by artistic director Keith Baker, "Cabaret" runs from March 10-April 12, with opening night at 7:30 p.m. on March 12. All performances will be held at Bristol Riverside Theatre, located at 120 Radcliffe St. Tickets are on sale now starting at $48, with military and student discounts available.

The show, with music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb and book by Joe Masteroff, is set in early 1930s Germany, where dark changes are taking place. The Kit Kat Club invites all who enter to cast their worries aside, but the show's characters can't avoid the world around them forever.

A winner of twelve Tony Awards, "Cabaret" features one of Broadway’s most memorable scores, including "Money," "Willkommen," "Maybe This Time" and "Cabaret."

It had multiple revivals onstage and was made into an eight-time Oscar-winning 1972 movie starring Liza Minnelli, Michael York and Joel Grey.

The Bristol Riverside Theatre production is based on the Tony-winning 1998 revival co-directed and choreographed by Rob Marshall and directed by Sam Mendes that originally starred Alan Cumming and the late Natasha Richardson.

"I have wanted to share the brilliance of 'Cabaret' with our audiences for a long time,” Baker said. " 'Cabaret' is a true cautionary tale about casual indifference that could happen anywhere, at any time, no matter what side of the aisle you find yourself on.

"Cabaret is just as relevant today as it was when it debuted in the 1960s."

At Bristol Riverside, a new feature will let audiences get up close and personal for the show. There will be special "cabaret-style" seating available at every performance. Those tickets are $60.

Tickets can be purchased online at the theater's website, at its box office, or over the phone at 215-785-0100.

Joining Baker will be Douglass Lutz, returning to Bristol Riverside as the show's music director.

Leading the cast are Broadway veteran Robb Sapp as The Emcee, Lauren Molina as Sally Bowles and Sean Thompson as writer Cliff Bradshaw.
