Donna Steckley of CARES Receives one of PVMA's Highest Honors

Donna Steckley of CARES in Langhorne, PA has been named Practice Manager of the Year by the Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Association (PVMA). The award honors a PVMA member who has shown excellence and leadership in the field of practice management in the last year. The award was bestowed this month at the PVMA's 2018 Hall of Fame Luncheon in Hershey, PA. Steckley was selected for this year's award "in recognition of her dedicated and strong leadership in the field of practice management across Pennsylvania, as an inspiring mentor and guide within CARES and Pet Partners, and a shining example of excellence."

"I am humbled and honored," says Steckley. "It is the people who truly make a veterinary practice extraordinary and I have surrounded myself with talented individuals who have shaped me into the leader and mentor I am today. I could not be here without the support of my family as well as the CARES and Pet Partners families."

Steckley began her veterinary career in 1983. She joined CARES, a state-of-the-art veterinary emergency and specialty hospital, in 2000 as a veterinary nurse. Throughout her CARES career, Steckley jumped into many roles around the hospital, including delivering puppies in the middle of the night, grabbing tools to tackle emergency repairs and even firing up the grill for the staff working holidays! A true team player, Steckley prides herself in treating the CARES staff like family. She oversees more than 100 people as Practice Manager and also serves as an Area Leader for Pet Partners, an organization dedicated to helping veterinary practices achieve their goals. She celebrates this award with her partner Lisa and their daughter, Dani.
