Falls Twp. Cracking Down on Litter, Dumping

Supervisors call the problem "disgusting" and say police will be handing out tickets for littering and dumping.

FALLS TOWNSHIP, PA — Officials in Falls Township say they are cracking down on littering and dumping trash.

Officials say both were problems even before the pandemic, which has added the improper disposal of masks and rubber gloves to their concerns. Now, they're asking for the community's support getting trash in its place.

Supervisors Chairman Jeff Dence has tasked township staff with organizing trash pickups. Meanwhile, Falls police will begin ticketing people caught littering or dumping garbage.

Beside looking bad, trash can pose environmental problems and make its way into water systems, polluting water and endangering animals.

At their virtual meeting this week, Supervisor John Palmer suggested a community activity or recognition in honor of Earth Day on April 22.
