GoFundMe Raises Nearly 10K For Slain Levittown Mother

Jamie Beighley's family members are seeking help with her funeral expenses. Beighley died Sunday after suffering apparent strangulation.

LEVITTOWN, PA — A GoFundMe in memory of Jamie Beighley, who died in the hospital Sunday following severe injuries, has raised $9,675 toward her funeral expenses as of Thursday morning.

Police found Beighley, 39, without a pulse when they were dispatched to New Falls Motel late at night on July 1. While emergency responders were able to revive her and bring her to the hospital, she died from severe head trauma and a brain bleed several days later.

Beighley’s boyfriend, 37-year-old Evan Smith, has been charged with aggravated assault, strangulation, recklessly endangering another person, simple assault, fleeing and eluding, and homicide. The Bucks County District Attorney’s Office said Smith admitted to choking Beighley after an argument escalated at the motel.

The GoFundMe is titled “Celebration of Jamie’s Life,” and will help her family cover the cost of memorializing her.

“As much as it pains me to be asking for help, our family could use it for Jamie’s funeral expenses,” her sister, Jackie Stephens, wrote on the page. “Jamie has always been the person to lend a helping hand, and now she could use one herself.”

The GoFundMe also links to a Bucks Daily Voice article, where an anonymous family member spoke to experiences they characterized as violent and abusive in Beighley’s relationship.

“We also ask for continued thoughts and prayers for the family and especially her boys,” Stephens wrote online.

Beighley’s funeral will be held at Galzerano Funeral Home in Levittown.
