Hour-By-Hour Forecast Of Saturday Night Snow

Expect the snow to start sometime after 6 p.m. Saturday across the Philadelphia region, forecasters say.

Some winter weather is headed our way today, and the National Weather Service has released additional information regarding what we can expect and when. Forecasters with the NWS, in a Saturday morning briefing, said to expect the snow to start sometime after 6 p.m. Saturday.

The snow, which could become heavy at times, will continue through about midnight. Snowfall rates may reach an inch per hour for a time this evening from the I-95 corridor and west. "This will lead to rapidly deteriorating road conditions," the NWS said.

Snowfall estimates for the Philadelphia area have not changed much from predictions released Friday. Between four and six inches is predicted in the suburbs north of Philadelphia. The city and areas south are expected to get three to four inches.

A winter weather advisory is in place in Bucks, Chester and Montgomery counties as well as the Lehigh Valley from Saturday evening until early Sunday.

In some areas along the I-95 corridor, snow could mix with rain, "however a burst of snow this evening could quickly coat surfaces with wet snow," the NWS said. And if enough wet snow sticks to trees and power lines, there could be power outages.
