LEVITTOWN, PA — Levittown-area officials have declared a snow emergency as the region prepares for a winter storm that could bring as much as 11 inches of snow.

Falls Township has declared a snow emergency starting at 6 p.m. Sunday and expiring at 6 a.m. on Tuesday. It requires all cars, trucks, boats and trailers to be moved off of township streets and into driveways so plows and emergency vehicles can move freely.

Failure to comply can result in a ticket or towing.

Middletown Township Police say they'll have extra officers on patrol during the storm to help with stranded motorists and other weather-related issues. They, too, are asking that residents move cars off of the street so plow trucks can do their jobs.

Non-emergency calls related to the storm can be made to the police department at 215-949-1000.

"Stay safe, stay warm, and if you have to be out there and it's as bad as they claim it going to be, please drive safely," Middletown Police said in a social media post.

Bristol Township also has declared a snow emergency, beginning at 6 p.m. Sunday and ending at midnight on Tuesday. During the emergency, parking is prohibited on all designated snow-emergency routes and on all township roadways where residents have access to off-street parking.

No one should drive without chains or all-weather tires and any vehicle parked, stalled or left unattended may be towed by the Bristol Township Police Department.

Power outages should be reported directly to PECO at 1-800-841-4141.

Forecasters have increased snowfall accumulation predictions, now saying as much as 11 inches could fall in suburban Philadelphia.

The National Weather Service issued the watch, which is in place starting at 6 p.m. Sunday through 6 a.m. Tuesday.

"Heavy snow possible," the watch alert states. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 11 inches are expected and winds could gust as high as 45 mph.
