Levittown Districts Get School-Safety Money From PA

Neshaminy, Pennsbury, Bristol Borough and Bristol Township were among the school districts getting money to improve safety and security.

FAIRLESS HILLS, PA — Several Levittown-area school districts were awarded state grants on Thursday to enhance school and community safety.

The money, announced Thursday, comes from a state School Safety and Security Fund. The fund was established in 2018 to address school safety and security concerns.

Pennsbury School District and Neshaminy School District received $45,000 from the fund. Bristol Borough School District received $77,665 and Bristol Township School District received $45,000.

In all, $60 million was distributed statewide on Thursday by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency.

"I’m glad that so many school districts in Bucks County have received grants from the School Safety and Security Fund," said state Sen. Steve Santarsiero. "Schools should be a place of learning and growth, and making sure that our students and faculty feel safe, and are in fact safe, in their classrooms is a crucial component of fostering that productive environment."

Other nearby districts receiving safety funds on Thursday were Bensalem Township School District ($45,000), Morrisville Borough School District ($30,000), Council Rock School District ($465,750) and New Hope-Solebury School District ($35,000).

The funds can be used for a wide variety of items, based on the needs of the school district. They can include the purchase of equipment, training, programs, counseling services, planning, screenings, and securing behavioral health care professionals and support.
