Levittown Gets $685K From State For New Traffic Signals

LEVITTOWN, PA — Bristol Township will receive a significant grant from the state to improve traffic signals at several locations around town.

The $685,528 total in funding will be used for a railroad preemption upgrade for New Rodgers Road at Otter Street ($106,282), to modernize New Falls Road at the Newportville Road traffic signal ($331,702), and to upgrade eight different traffic signal controller assemblies ($247,544) — the entire system which produces signals. It's part of more than $15 million in funding awarded to municipalities around the state as part of PennDOT's Green Light-Go program.

"The safety improvements supported by the Green Light-Go program not only help municipalities relieve congestion and traffic flow, they help Pennsylvanians move safely and efficiently," Gov. Tom Wolf said in a statement. "I'm proud to help our communities improve mobility for Pennsylvanians."

Green Light-Go funds can be used for traffic signal retiming, developing special event plants, upgrading signals to the latest technologies, and other operational improvements.

Three other projects in Bucks County also received funding.
