Levittown Holocaust Survivor, Cantor Memorialized In NY Times
"To the nurses and doctors and staff at his residence and every time we spoke on the phone, still singing," his grandson wrote the Times.
LEVITTOWN, PA — David Wisnia served as Cantor of Temple Shalom in Levittown for 28 years. The talented and spiritual man, who survived the concentration camps at Auschwitz, died on June 15 at the age of 94.
Before his death, The New York Times wrote in Friday's obituary, Wisnia returned to Auschwitz with his family to mark the 75th anniversary of the camp’s liberation in 2020.
“He was the consummate survivor,” his grandson, Avi Wisnia, told the Times. “Even when his health would be in question, it’s what kept him going."
