Lower Bucks Family YMCA swim team sees success at Nationals, States
Lower Bucks Family YMCA’s swim team is celebrating great success at the 2018 YMCA National Short Course Championships.
The Lower Bucks team, known as Tri-Hampton YMCA Swim Team (THY), saw a stand-out performance by 15 year old David Curtiss who placed first in the 50 freestyle with a time of 19.75 seconds.
“David is an amazing athlete and we’re so proud of his accomplishments. He is a humble team leader who encourages his teammates to push themselves by demonstrating what can be achieved through hard work,” said head coach Tim Ryan.

Additionally, THY’s Will Deitch, Gregory Roytman, Dominic Edwards and Curtiss took 12th place with a time of 1:24.72 in the Men’s 200 Yard Freestyle Relay at Nationals.
Several team records were broken at Nationals including:
- Female 15 & Over 100 IM: Brooke Garretson
- Male 15 & Over 50 Freestyle: David Curtiss
- Male 200 Medley Relay: Greg Roytman, Dominic Edwards, Josh Belder, David Curtiss
- Male 400 Free Relay: Will Deitch, Greg Roytman, Dominic Edwards, David Curtiss
- Male 200 Free Relay: Will Deitch, Greg Roytman, Dominic Edwards, David Curtiss
- Male 400 Medley Relay: Greg Roytman, Dominic Edwards, Josh Belder, David Curtiss
The team also had a strong showing at the state level competition. Male 10 & under Cadets placed 1st place overall, male 13-14 year olds Juniors placed 4th overall and female 13-14 year olds Juniors placed 8th overall.
“Congratulations to our entire Tri-Hampton YMCA Swim Team. Our swimmers and coaches worked hard this season to do their best and we are so proud of their success,” said Lower Bucks Family YMCA President & CEO Zane Moore.
