The Middletown Community Foundation's annual fundraising race has gone to the dogs … again.
The Middletown Community Foundation’s annual fundraising race has gone to the dogs … again.
The volunteer-run nonprofit organization will host its Woof-A-Palooza 5K, Five-Mile Race, and Two-Mile Family-Friendly Fun Walk on the morning of Sunday, November 3, 2019, at Core Creek Park in Langhorne.
The chip-timed 5 Mile Race with an instant results kiosks will be held entirely within the confines of Core Creek Park, which is expected to be sporting its finest fall foliage around race day.
This year marks the first time the event will feature a 5K, said Middletown Community Foundation Executive Director Paula Kearns.

The Five-Mile Race is USA Track and Field certified and awards will be handed out.
Funds raised through Woof-A-Palooza will support the Middletown Township Police Department’s K-9 unit. The township is looking to purchase new equipment for the working dogs and also obtain an additional police dog. Last year’s race supported the purchase of two new police dogs, stab-proof vests for the highly-trained dogs, and related supplies.

The police department will have K-9 officers at the event for a public demonstration.
“This is a great way to get outside and enjoy fall while keeping healthy and supporting the hard work of the Middletown police officers – whether they have four paws or two feet,” Middletown Community Foundation Chairman Jim Merrill said.
Woof-A-Palooza will also feature a dog-friendly family fun walk through the scenic paths of Core Creek Park. Leashed pets are allowed only in the un-timed fun walk. No pets are permitted in the 5 Mile or 5K races.
Groups of 10 or more can register for a discount rate, and for those hearty souls, a special rate is available for those running both the 5K and the 5 Mile race.
There will be a free race T-shirt for the first 150 entries received through October 17. Also, all leashed dogs attending Woof-A-Palooza will receive a bandanna to show their support for the police K-9 program.
To register for the race, A food vendor will also be in attendance at Woof-A-Palooza.
Woof-A-Palooza is supported by lead sponsor Inspire Federal Credit Union and media sponsor LevittownNow.com.
