More Snow Coming In An Icy Levittown

LEVITTOWN, PA — Another 1-3 inches of snow was expected in the Levittown area on Tuesday, as the snowstorm that started on Sunday continues.

Meanwhile, local officials were dealing with car crashes and other impacts of the winter storm, which, according to the National Weather Service, already had dumped about 10 inches of snow on the area.

Schools, government buildings and some businesses remained closed for a second day Tuesday in Levittown.

In Falls Township, emergency authorities extended a snow emergency declaration that had been scheduled to expire at 6 a.m. on Tuesday to 6 p.m. instead.

"The speed of the storm and the fact that the snow will continue through tomorrow afternoon warrants this change," said Richard Dippolito, director of emergency service for the township.

By midnight Monday, Langhorne reported 10 inches of snowfall, according to the National Weather Service. There were 9.8 inches reported in Yardley, 7.5 inches in Bensalem and 9.5 inches in Feasterville-Trevose.

Icy conditions on roadways and snowdrifts had police responding to crashes overnight and into Tuesday morning. They included incidents at:

• I-295 at the Penndel/Levittown exit
• U.S. 1 northbound between Oxford Valley and Fairless hills exits

Schools in the Neshaminy and Bristol Township school districts had snow days again on Tuesday, while those in Pennsbury and Bristol Borough were doing remote learning from home.

Waste Management announced that it would not be picking up trash and recycling again on Tuesday due to the weather. The company, which serves Falls, Middletown and Bristol townships and other municipalities in the Levittown area, planned to run routes one day behind its usual schedule.

Shortly after 9 a.m. on Tuesday, PECO was reporting just one small power outage in the Bristol area that it said was impacting fewer than five people.
