Mosquito Spray Scheduled Tuesday In Middletown Twp, Penndel
Forsythia Gate and Highland Park are among the areas to be sprayed for mosquitoes on Tuesday.

Parts of Middletown Township and Penndel Borough will be sprayed Tuesday to reduce the population of mosquitoes capable of carrying the West Nile Virus, Bucks County announced.
The areas to be sprayed include: Forsythia Gate and Highland Park sections of Middletown Township and Taddie Woods in Penndel Borough. Spraying begins at dusk.
"The treatments will be administered via truck-mounted equipment in Middletown Township and backpack in Penndel Borough, spraying mosquito habitats in residential and park locations. The equipment dispenses Duet Dual-Action Adulticide at a rate of 0.75 ounces per acre. The product is designed to provide quick, effective control of adult mosquito populations," according to an announcement from Bucks County.

The application material has a "very low toxicity profile," officials said.
Certain mosquito species carry the West Nile virus, which can cause humans to contract West Nile encephalitis, an infection that can result in an inflammation of the brain. According to the Pennsylvania Department of Health, all residents in areas where virus activity has been identified are at risk of contracting West Nile encephalitis, health officials say.
