Bristol Township will be sprayed to control mosquito populations and limit the spread of West Nile Virus in the area.
The Bucks County West Nile Virus Prevention Program will conduct an ultra-low volume (ULV) mosquito control operation to reduce high populations of mosquitoes capable of transmitting West Nile Virus Wednesday, August 31, 2016 in Bristol Township and Middletown Township.
The area to receive the treatment will be Tanglewood Drive in Middletown Township, all of Croydon in Bristol Township and a section of West Bristol also in Bristol Township in an area bordered by Route 413, Newport Road and Broadway Avenue, officials said.

The equipment dispenses Duet Dual-Action Adulticide at a rate of 0.75 ounces per acre. Spraying will begin at dusk.
Officials said that the chemicals have a "very low" toxicity profile to mammals, and will have "negligible" impact to non-target insects and the environment.

Officials hope the spraying reduces the transmission of West Nile Virus, which is frequently carried by mosquitoes.
