Near-Drowning In Neshaminy Creek: Update
Multiple police and fire departments responded on Thursday afternoon to reports from Middletown of a 14-year-old boy in peril.
LEVITTOWN, PA — A 14-year-old boy who nearly drowned at the Neshaminy Creek was airlifted to the hospital on Thursday afternoon. Though he could not share further details, Middletown Township’s Director of Fire & Emergency Management Jim McGuire said on Monday that he had received information that the boy was in stable condition.
Crews were dispatched to the creek at 2:40 p.m. on Thursday, where they found the boy having difficulty breathing. McGuire said that police arrived first to the scene and worked to keep the boy’s head above water. Fire crews arriving shortly after helped bring him to the side of the creek.
McGuire and his team used a stokes basket to bring the boy from the bottom of the creek bed up to safety, at which point he was airlifted to the Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia.
