Obituary: Dr. John McEwan, Jr., 93, Levittown Optometrist

Dr. John McEwan, Jr., 93, husband of Margaret Ann (Early) McEwan, of Exton, formerly Levittown, passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2019 in Powerback Rehabilitation, Exton PA. Born on March 24, 1926 in Lynn, Massachusetts, he was a son of the late Mary (Inglis) and John McEwan, Sr.

John was a United States Army Veteran, serving as Military Police in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He received his Doctorate in Optometry and owned his own practice, Dr. John McEwan Optometrist, in Levittown for many years, until his retirement in 1997.

He was a charter member of the Kiwanis Club of Levittown Bristol in 1953, and was a recipient of the Kiwanian of the Year Award. John was an avid golfer and bowled weekly until the age of 92.

In addition to his loving wife, Dr. McEwan is survived by his children: Susan, wife of Timothy Vickrey, Sr., of Chester Springs, and Thomas E. Krusic, of Utah; grandchildren: Timothy Vickrey, Jr., Matthew Vickrey and Virginia Krusic; and great-grandsons: Timothy Vickrey, III and Michael Vickrey.
