Penndel Teen Killed In Creek Loved Sports, Outdoors (ICYMI)

PENNDEL, PA — They called him "Cowboy Phil."

The Penndel teenager who died last week after drowning in a rain-swollen Mill Creek is being remembered as a fun and outgoing kid who loved the outdoors, country music and spending time with his family.

Phillip J. Oseredzuk, 16, died early Thursday at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

According to his obituary, Phil was a lifelong resident of Penndel who attended Neshaminy High School, where he played ice hockey. He also played for the Grundy Grizzlies and Grundy Senators, as well as playing baseball in the Penndel Little League system.

He loved boating and fishing, diesel trucks, riding quads and being with his family, the obituary says. Phil was a member of Our Lady of Grace parish and, at just 13 years old, he started his own business — Phil's Landscaping.

"Phil will be lovingly remembered for his larger than life, outgoing and fun loving personality," the obituary reads.

A funeral mass was held on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, Phil's family is asking for memorial contributions to the Gift of Life Donor Program, 401 N. 3rd St, Philadelphia, PA 19123.

Police say he and a 17-year-old were kayaking in the creek Wednesday at about 8:30 p.m., after strong thunderstorms had pounded the area. He was believed to be under water for about five minutes after being dragged under the creek's strong current near Snowball Drive and Silverspruce Lane.
