Sesame Place Hosting Day For Kids With Disabilities

LANGHORNE, PA — On Sunday, Sesame Place will be hosting a special day exclusively for children with with disabilities and their families.
The park in Langhorne will partner with Variety, the Children's Charity, on Saturday, April 27, for the 32nd consecutive year. From 11 a.m.-5 p.m., children with disabilities will have a chance to experience an exclusive day at the park.
The event is in conjunction with Autism Acceptance Month. Last year, Sesame Place became the first theme park in the world to become a certified autism center.

Sesame staffers will make special accommodations for children with autism, including designated quiet areas and two quiet rooms located near Big Bird's Rambling River. There will be low-sensory shows and volume adjustments throughout the park to ensure every child has an enjoyable experience.
The park also will be hosting a resource fair where families can get free Sesame Street story books and have a chance to learn and connect with others.

Sesame Workshop launched the Sesame Street and Autism: See Amazing in All Children initiative in 2015 to increase awareness and understanding of autism.
Julia, a Sesame Street Muppet with autism, came to life on the award-winning broadcast in 2017.
Sesame Place is located at 100 Sesame Rd. in Langhorne.
