Soroptimist club calls for scholarship applications from girls
Club supports the empowerment of young women through education

NEWTOWN — Volunteer service organization Soroptimist International of Indian Rock has opened up applications for its scholarship grant for young women.
The Soroptimist International of Indian Rock (SIIR) annual scholarship is a one-time grant of a minimum of $1,500. It can be used for expenses incurred, i.e. tuition, books, supplies, room and board. Payment of the scholarship is made directly to the school that the recipient will be attending.
The scholarship is presented each year to deserving young women graduating from high school who have been accepted to a college for the fall semester. In 2019, SIIR scholarships were presented to 10 such young women. Students are considered based on their school performance, community service, financial need and personal essays. The application deadline is April 17, 2020.
