Special Needs Family Fun Night at Clementon Park and Splash World

Head to Clementon Park and Splash World for Special Needs Family Fun Night for Autism Cares Foundation

A romp at a local water park is the perfect way for children and adults to cool off during the steamy summer nights, so this is why hundreds of families are looking forward to the Third Annual Special Needs Family Fun Night, at Clementon Park and Splash World.

This much-anticipated private event, will be held on Tuesday, August 7, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Clementon Park and Splash World, 144 Berlin Road in Clementon, New Jersey. The park will be closed to the public and open only to families caring for a loved one with special needs, and parking is free.

From the moment the gates swing open, the park will be flowing with old-fashioned family fun and the opportunity to create lasting memories for the hundreds of guests, and dozens of volunteers, who are expected to attend.

The reduced price admission is $15 per person, and $5 from each ticket is being donated to Autism Cares Foundation, a non-profit serving children, teens, and adults with autism, and other special needs, and their families.

The Special Needs Family Fun Night is being sponsored by radio stations 96.5 TDY and 98.1 WOGL, and it is the result of a unique partnership between WOGL talk show host Marilyn Russell, Clementon Park and Splash World and the Autism Cares Foundation. When Russell, a well-known radio personality, heard that Clementon Park was looking to host a Special Needs Family Fun Night, she connected the theme park with the Autism Cares Foundation.

All of the partners are proud of these annual special needs events and everything that is being accomplished for the special needs community, and want to have a great turnout for the summer 2018.

This well-organized event perfectly combines the ideals of a caring heart and the importance of deep community involvement. It is a time for individuals with special needs to have a safe, fun-filled, family-friendly experience where everyone can be themselves.

The invitation goes out to everyone who has a loved one with special needs, and the entire family is encouraged to come out to have a “splashing good time” and tickle all of their senses as they take in the sights, sounds, and mouth-watering treats at Clementon Park and Splash World.

The guests can expect to splash around the water park, play carnival games, and take rides on the merry-go-round, the Giant Ferris Wheel, Ring of Fire, Log Flume, C.P. Huntingdon Train, and many others at the theme park.

“We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy Clementon Park and Splash Word, and it makes us all feel extremely gratified to do this,” said Margie Ford, director of sales and marketing for Clementon Park and Splash World. “We absolutely love having everyone here.”

She said that the heart-felt comments from past participants were music to her ears. “It means everything to us to see the families watching their children having fun swimming, enjoying the rides and playing the games,” Ford added. “Clementon Park and Splash World is truly honored to hold this event!”

Families who have attended during the past two years were thrilled by the opportunity to enjoy the theme park and water rides, without the long lines, massive crowds and other more “typical rules” that can upset their loved ones with special needs.

The magical night is a way to reach out to a broader section of the special needs community, and to benefit the Autism Cares Foundation, which is currently celebrating its Diamond 10th Anniversary.

"WOW! This is truly an amazing event, especially, when you see our families having the time of their lives,” said Linda Kuepper, Co-founder and CEO of the Autism Cares Foundation. “This is all made possible, because of loving and caring friends like Margie Ford and her outstanding staff at Clementon Park and Splash World, and 96.5 TDY, 98.1 WOGL and our dear friend Marilyn Russell from WOGL. I want to give a heartfelt thank you to all of the Autism Cares Foundation volunteers who continue to donate their time to help and support our families.”

Elizabeth Podolski, of Egg Harbor, N.J., has brought her five children and two nieces, ages 4 to 16, to Clementon Park for Special Needs Family Fun Night, and could not have been more pleased.

This was the ideal opportunity for the family to enjoy summer fun with her daughter, Kady, a non-verbal sixth-grader.

“The moment my daughter walked in and took a glimpse of the water park she was all smiles,” said her mother, a third-grade teacher.

“Kady saw the tubes and water slides and her smile became bigger and bigger,” the happy mother said. “Having a night for families with special needs means less crowds and feeling welcomed, so we are thrilled to keep coming back.”
