Thousands In Levittown Without Power In Wednesday Storm

PECO's outage map showed outages impacting thousands of people in the Neshaminy Woods neighborhood and elsewhere.

UPDATE: By 4:30 p.m., power had been restored to most, but not all, homes in the Levittown area. PECO said 829 customers remained without power in Falls, 185 in Middletown, 23 in Bristol and five in Langhorne Manor.

LEVITTOWN, PA — Thousands of Levittown-area residents were without power Wednesday afternoon as strong thunderstorms rolled through the area.

According to PECO's outage map, two outages in the Neshaminy Woods area had knocked out power to 1,681 customers shortly after 2 p.m. on Wednesday. Just to the south, near Creek Road, another outage was impacting 2,628 customers, the map said.

Crews had been dispatched to the larger outages, according to PECO, and power was expected to be restored by 4 p.m.

Hundreds more homes had gone dark Wednesday afternoon in smaller outages in Langhorne, Fairless Hills, Levittown, Bristol and other local neighborhoods.

The outage map said the cause of the outages was undetermined Wednesday afternoon. But they came as strong thunderstorms, bringing heavy rain and frequent lightning, rolled through the area.

The National Weather Service was calling for thunderstorms packing 60 m.p.h. winds to hit Lower Bucks County on Wednesday afternoon. The area was under a flash flood warning until 4:15 p.m. and a severe thunderstorm watch until 9 p.m., according to the NWS.
