3 Men In Fight Fall Down Elevator Shaft In KOP Apartment: Police

Three men were injured Monday night after they crashed through elevator doors and fell 8 stories, police said. One of them was airlifted.

KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — Three men were injured after falling eight stories down an elevator shaft after a fight on Monday night.

The incident occurred at 9:48 p.m. at the 251 DeKalb Apartments in King of Prussia.

The fight began on the eighth floor between three men, all of them from King of Prussia and between the ages of 20 to 22.

It's not clear what started the melee, but the trio eventually crashed through the closed elevator door, falling down the shaft, police said.

Two of the men then crashed through the roof of the elevator and into the car, while one remained on top of the elevator, according to authorities.

The incident was initially investigated as a malfunction with the elevator, before authorities determined that the men had been fighting.

Upper Merion Township Fire and EMS personnel worked to extricate the men from the elevator. Two were taken to Paoli Hospital by ambulance, while a third was flown to Penn Presbyterian Hospital.
