4-Year-Old Struck by Car in Norristown Sunday

The boy was hit in the 1200 block of Markley and flown to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for treatment.

A 4-year-old Norristown boy was hospitalized on Sunday after being hit by a car in the 1200 block of Markley Street.

Norristown Police and Plymouth Ambulance Company responded to the area of Markley and Sterigere streets sometime around 3:45 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, for a report of a pedestrian struck by a car. There, responders found the 4-year-old boy lying in the middle of Markley Street, having been struck by a vehicle travelling north along Markley. The boy's mother was on the scene with the child. According to police reports, the victim had a bump on the back of his head and was in and out of consciousness while being treated by medical personnel at the scene.

The boy was flown by medevac to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphiafor treatment of his injuries.

Officers interviewed the driver, who said he was travelling along Markley Street when the boy appeared in the street from between two parked cars. The driver told police he was travelling at the speed limit and did not have time to stop before hitting the child. Another witness on the scene confirmed the driver's account of the accident. No charges have been filed in this incident at this time.

Hospital officials have declined to comment on the victim's condition.
