Audubon Students Release 1,500 Ladybugs For Earth Day

In honor of Earth Day, local students released thousands of ladybugs to improve ecosystem health.

AUDUBON, PA -- On April 22, students at Chesterbrook Academy preschoolin Audubon explored a bug’s life in celebration of Earth Day as they released more than 1,500 ladybugs throughout the schoolyard and back into the environment on plants, flowers and trees.

Students dressed for the occasion in the likeness of ladybugs, wearing red and black colors and antennae.

Leading up to Earth Day, students learned that ladybugs serve as a natural pesticide by feeding on insects that could otherwise harm the health of gardens, trees and shrubs.

Chesterbrook Academy said that they aim to teach the importance of community and exploring nature at a young age.
