Bark for the Park Invites Four-Legged Friends

Norristown Farm Park supported by local families with dogs.

They should have a say, too. And for once, a local fundraiser and event will feature the four-legged members of our families.

The second annual Bark! Bark! Bark for Our Park! is a "family event celebrating People, Parks, and Puppies," according to the organizers' website.

Scheduled to be held on Sunday May 19, from noon to 4 p.m., guests and their four-legged friends are invited to visit the Norristown Farm Park pavilions.

Guests should enter from Germantown Pike at North Wales Road/Barley Sheaf Drive to come into the park. Those in attendance will meet "Johnny Angel, canine conservation hero," according to the site.

"Bark! Bark! Bark for My Park!" will "tell Johnny Angel’s true story about saving Norristown Farm Park."

"Dramatically illustrated with photos from the park and surrounding areas, this book has been honored for excellence by a Moms’ Choice Award and received a rare 'recommended' status from the U.S. Review of Books," said the The Farm Park Preservation Association. "Johnny Angel and human co-author Dr. Dimuzio will be on paw (and hand) to sell signed copies."

The day's events are hosted by The Farm Park Preservation Association and Montgomery County Parks, Trails, and Historic Sites. Festivities will be emceed by Elvis Tribute Artist Dean Garofolo

Admission is $10 per car, which includes:

  • Dog Walk & Papillon Parade
  • Bluebird Hike
  • Search & Rescue Demonstration
  • Kids’ Crafts  and more

Other activities that may involve additional costs, include:

  • Book sales and signing
  • Scavenger Hunt based on the book
  • Vendor Booths
  • Raffle Prizes

The four-legged dog friends are welcome to the day's events. Owners are asked to be sure their pups are properly supervised.

"Remember, if you come, your canine companions must be well behaved and wear properly fitted collars or harnesses and short solid leashes (6 feet or less)," said The Farm Park Preservation Association. "No flexi-leads or extendable leashes are permitted."

Proceeds will benefit The Norristown Farm Park and the Farm Park Preservation Association. Norristown Farm Park is owned by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, the Bureau of State Parks and is managed by the Montgomery County Parks, Trails, and Historic Sites, a Division of the Department of Assets and Infrastructure.
