Become a Norristown 'Junior Naturalist'

Insects, forest ecology, creek birds, mammals, and habitat are some of the topics explored using games, crafts, and hands-on activities.

NORRISTOWN, PA -- Junior Naturalist Camp is an environmental learning program for children entering 4th through 7th grade (ages 9 to 12) sponsored by the Montgomery County Parks, Trails, and Historic Sites Division and led by environmental education staff, according to the county.

The camp is offered at two locations: Norristown Farm Park from July 11th – 15th and Lorimer Park from July 18th – 22nd. Camp times are 9:00am to 12:00pm daily, the county announced.

Each morning is filled with activities that teach children about the natural world around them. Insects, forest ecology, creek birds, mammals, and habitat are some of the topics explored using games, crafts, and hands-on activities.

Children learn to use field guides and they complete simple data sheets every day. Camp shirts are issued on the first day of camp.

The $50.00 fee for the week must accompany the registration form. Registration forms are available at either park office or online at http://www.montcopa.org/documentcenter/view/12898. The registration deadline is July 5th. Camp fills up quickly and space is limited to 12 children per session. Registration is strictly on a first come, first served basis.
