COVID Positivity Rate In Montco Sinks Down To 3 Percent
Here are the latest numbers in Montgomery County as the pandemic continues to wane.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — The pandemic continues to wane across the region and in Montgomery County, as local areas are experiencing the best numbers they've seen in months.
The percent positivity rate on coronavirus tests is now all the way down to 3 percent in Montgomery County, a drop from 3.8 percent last week. As recently as early and mid April, that rate had spiked to over 8 percent.
The drop comes as the county's vaccination rate rises rapidly. A total of 36 percent of the county's 12 and up population is now fully vaccinated, while 98.7 percent of the 65 and older population has received full inoculation.

The county has also continued to work to ease the vaccination process, as appointments are no longer required to get a vaccine, with walk-up registration available at all six clinic locations. The county has also expanded hours to later in the evening in an effort to vaccine children, particularly those aged 12 to 15 who just became eligible to receive Pfizer doses.

Beyond the percent positivity drop, the county has also seen a decrease in overall number cases, from 445 to 292 over the most recently studied seven-day period.
Average daily hospitalizations are down from 157 to 127, and the percentage of emergency room visits due to coronavirus symptoms has fallen from 0.7 to 0.5 percent. Finally, the average daily number of ventilators in use has also dropped from 23 to 20.
