PHILADELPHIA, PA — A player on the Philadelphia Eagles has tested positive for coronavirus, the team announced Thursday afternoon. The name of the player was not disclosed.

Several "close contacts" of the player were identified and are now in isolation, the team said. It's not yet clear how many other players that includes, if any.

New York Giants kicker Graham Gano, who was on the field during the Giants vs. Eagles game this past Sunday, has also tested positive.

The Eagles added that they were implementing COVID-19 response measures following the confirmation of the positive test.

"We are following NFL-NFLPA intensive protocols and remain in communication with the league on this matter," they said in a statement.

There have now been multiple outbreaks across the NFL, including most recently among the offensive line of the Las Vegas Raiders. The Tennessee Titans missed a week earlier in the season after players tested positive.

An unidentified coach on the Eagles staff also tested positive earlier this month.

The Eagles have placed players on the COVID-19 List earlier this season, but that indicated players who were put in quarantine after potential exposure, not confirmed positives.

Due to the fall surge of the virus and renewed restrictions on outdoor gatherings from the city of Philadelphia, Eagles fans are no longer allowed to attend games in person at Lincoln Financial Field.

Despite a loss to the Giants last week and falling to 3-5-1, the Birds remain in first place in the NFC East. They're scheduled to play the Browns in Cleveland this Sunday at 1 p.m.
