Elmwood Zoo Animals Moved To Safety Amid Storm's Destruction
The storm has caused significant damage to Elmwood Park Zoo, and crews were moving animals to safety Tuesday afternoon.
NORRISTOWN, PA — Tuesday's Tropical Storm Isais is not only causing massive flooding and power outages, it's also causing structural damage to buildings around the region, including the Elmwood Park Zoo.
Zoo staff reported that they were moving animals to safety at around noon Tuesday as "severe flash flooding and destruction" hit zoo property.
A video shared by the zoo showed a churning brown river of water several feet deep moving through the heart of zoo.

Other animals, like a goat, were balanced on a log to escape the rising water.

The zoo asked for donations to help them with what they anticipate to be a major cleanup project.
"Our dedicated and resilient staff is working quickly to move animals to safety and mitigate flooding, the zoo said in a statement. "As we continue to battle the storm and face a significant cleanup, we greatly appreciate any contribution made to our Champion Fund. Donations not only support the daily care of our animals, but also expedite recovery from storm damages."
