Elmwood Zoo Hosts Juneteenth Event, Free For Norristown Residents
The celebration will feature music, food, art, vendors, animal meet and greets, and more.
NORRISTOWN, PA — In honor of America's newest holiday, Elmwood Park Zoo is putting on a special celebration.
In partnership with the Greater Norristown NAACP, a Juneteenth event will be held on Saturday, June 19 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The event will feature music, food, art, vendors, animal meet and greets, and the chance to interact with the community.

Norristown residents who live in the 19401 zip code will receive free admission to the event. Identification must be shown.
Juneteenth, held annually on June 19, celebrates the end of slavery in the United States and the date many slaves in Texas finally found out they were free. It officially became a federal holiday this week when it was passed by Congress and signed by President Joe Biden.
