NORRISTOWN, PA — Police, firefighters, EMS workers, and others were honored in a recent ceremony at Elmwood Park Zoo, during which the zoo announced a new free membership to all local first responders.

The special first responder membership is available to those working in the field in Norristown, Plymouth, East Norriton, and West Norriton. It offers free zoo admission along with other perks, similar to the zoo's yearly memberships that are available for purchase to the general public.

"We truly appreciate the support of our first responders, who put the safety of the residents of Montgomery County ahead of their own," Elmwood CEO and executive director Al Zone said during the recent ceremony.
