Elmwood Zoo's New Baby Sloth Officially Named

NORRISTOWN, PA — Elmwood Park Zoo's newest resident, a baby sloth, has been officially named, zoo officials announced Friday in a special grand reveal video.
The (currently) tiny animal will be named Liana. That was the winning choice per public vote over four other names: Banana, Panda, Penelope, and Vida.
The zoo said that nearly 6,000 people took part in the voting. Watch the full announcement video here.

Once she's ready to emerge, the linnaeus sloth will be in a new exhibit adjacent to the Trail of the Jaguar. Construction crews are currently preparing her home.
To support her growth and new home, visitors are encouraged to buy special edition sloth t-shirts, made specifically for her birth.
