Elmwood Zoo's Prissy, Beloved Boer Goat, Passes Away At 15

A veteran zoo resident, Prissy was described by those who cared for her as "the zoo's most enthusiastic participant" in guest interaction.

NORRISTOWN, PA — The week started off on a sad note at Elmwood Park Zoo, as one of the zoo's veteran residents passed away.

Prissy, a 15-year-old Boer goat, was humanely euthanized due to a lack of mobility and no response to treatments.

Born in 2006, Prissy arrived at Elmwood in 2014, and spent much time in the barnyard exhibit where guests had the opportunity to feed the goats.

But Prissy's time to shine really came when the zoo moved away from feeding to more direct interaction.

"Prissy was the zoo’s most enthusiastic participant in this new experience — she was often the first in the yard in the morning," the zoo said in a statement announcing her passing.
