PA Launches Vaccine Eligibility Tool: Here's How Long You'll Wait
Pennsylvania officials hope the new online tool will help alleviate some of the ongoing confusion over the coronavirus vaccine.

PENNSYLVANIA — Pennsylvania has launched a new tool that officials hope will clear up some of the ongoing confusion about the COVID-19 vaccine distribution process, as millions wait their turn to receive doses.
The "YourTurn" online tool aims to help residents find out where they stand within the state's vaccine priority groups.
Residents under 65 can input their information to see if they are eligible. If they are eligible, they'll be directed to a vaccination appointment registration link. If they aren't eligible, they'll be given more information on when they'll become eligible, based on the information they provided.

“When it is your turn, we will direct you on how to find a vaccine provider. If it is not your turn yet, you will be able to enter contact information to receive updates about vaccine distribution in Pennsylvania and for us to let you know when it is your turn to get vaccinated," Acting Secretary of Health Alison Beam said in a statement.
During a news briefing Tuesday, Department of Health senior adviser Lindsey Mauldin cited the tool when asked about frustration with the state's registration process. The state has no plans to move to a single centralized system, like other states, even as residents express frustration with attempting to sign up for vaccine appointments in multiple locations, including with county government providers, pharmacies and health care facilities offering the vaccine.

But with a severe shortage of vaccine still being experienced nationwide, "qualifying for a vaccine does not guarantee available doses or appointments," state officials remind the public.

Earlier Tuesday, Gov. Tom Wolf announced the formation of a COVID-19 Vaccine Joint Task Force, composed of members from each legislative caucus. Task force members will represent their caucus's point of view and work to streamline conversations to focus and drive issues of importance, according to an announcement from the governor's office.
The state has completed 1,049,609 partial vaccinations and 302,639 full vaccinations as of Wednesday morning.
Pennsylvanians can learn more about where they can get vaccinated and when they'll be eligible at the state Department of Health's vaccine website here.
