Johnson Highway Bridge Reopens In East Norriton
The bridge in East Norriton has opened more than a month ahead of schedule, to the delight of local residents.

EAST NORRITON, PA — Much to the delight and relief of local residents, the Johnson Highway bridge in East Norriton has been reopened more than a month ahead of schedule.
The bridge carrying traffic over Sawmill Run Creek was not scheduled to be reopened until early October, according to PennDOT.
The road had been closed between Hills Drive and Rahway Avenue since back on May 13.

Crews completed extensive rehabilitation on the bridge, which was built in 1924 and reconstructed in 1966.
The repairs included removing the superstructure and installing a new bridge deck, as well as putting in a barrier and sidewalk. The bridge approaches were also paved.

The 28-foot long bridge carries an average of 9,096 vehicles per day, according to PennDOT.
Loftus Construction was the general contractor on the project.
