Lifelong Norristown Area Resident, Local Volunteer, Passes Away At 102

Mary Santangelo, 102, worked for Montco SAAC for over 50 years. She was known for her beautiful oil paintings, which she cherished dearly.

NORRISTOWN, PA — Mary (Venezia) Santangelo, 102, passed away peacefully on the morning of July 30, 2017. A lifelong resident of Montgomery County, Mary entered into eternal rest. Born on May 6, 1915 in Norristown she was the daughter of the late Morris & Mary Venezia, and loving wife of the late Frank Santangelo.

Mary was a devoted member of the SAAC for over 50 years which she was very proud of. She was a dedicated parishioner of the Holy Saviour Church in Norristown, and she devoted much time to helping those in need by working with Meals on Wheels. In her spare time she enjoyed playing bingo, and was a talented oil painter who cherished her work.

Mary is survived by her son, Frank (Terry) Santangelo, of New Hanover PA.; one sister, Lillian Baldasano; one brother, Arthur (Mary) Venezia; four grandchildren, Linda (Mac) Zeigler, Richard Santangelo, Rosemary (Bill) Miller, Neale Lanigan; and seven great grandchildren, Ashley, Kelsey, Hailey, Kaitlin, Rowan, Claire, and Dax. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Coyle; and her three siblings, James Venezia, Joseph Venezia, and Francis Chiccarine.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday August 4, 2017 from 9-9:50am at the Holy Saviour Church, 407 E. Main St. Norristown PA. 19401. Mass will follow the viewing at 10:00am at the church. Entombment will follow in the St. Patrick’s Cemetery Mausoleum.
