Those are the fifth best odds in all of baseball, trailing only established elite teams like the revamped New York Yankees, the defending champion Boston Red Sox and the 2017 champion Houston Astros. Bookies give the Yankees a 14.3 percent chance to win the title. The Red Sox and Astros each have a 13.3 percent chance to win the World Series.

The Dodgers are the only NL team with better odds than the Phillies, with an 11.1 percent chance.

According to OddsShark, The Phillies’ World Series odds jumped from 7.69 percent before signing Harper all the way to 10.5 percent after he joined the team.

Confused? Basically, all you need to know is the teams with the higher percentages are more likely to win it all than the teams with the lower percentages. That means a successful $100 bet on the Yankees to win it all would result in a payout of $700. The payout for the Red Sox and Astros would be $750.

Here are the implied World Series odds for every team, according to Oddschecker:

  1. Yankees, 14.3 percent
  2. Red Sox, 13.3 percent
  3. Astros, 13.3 percent
  4. Dodgers, 11.1 percent
  5. Phillies, 7.7 percent
  6. Cubs, 6.7 percent
  7. Indians, 6.7 percent
  8. Cardinals, 5.3 percent
  9. Brewers, 5.3 percent
  10. Nationals, 5 percent
  11. Braves, 4.8 percent
  12. Mets, 4 percent
  13. Rockies, 3.4 percent
  14. Athletics, 2.9 percent
  15. Rays, 2 percent
  16. Angels, 2 percent
  17. Twins, 2 percent
  18. Pirates, 1.5 percent
  19. Diamondbacks, 1.4 percent
  20. Padres, 1.4 percent
  21. Mariners, 1.2 percent
  22. Blue Jays, 1.2 percent
  23. White Sox, 1 percent
  24. Reds, 1 percent
  25. Giants, 1 percent
  26. Rangers, 0.5 percent
  27. Tigers, 0.5 percent
  28. Royals, 0.4 percent
  29. Marlins, 0.4 percent
  30. Orioles, 0.2 percent

The Orioles, Marlins, Royals, Tigers and Rangers represent the bottomfeeders this year. In fact, the odds are so low for the Orioles (0.2 percent) to win it all that you could turn $100 into a new BMW or Cadillac. This means that a successful $100 bet on the Orioles would result in the gambler earning a massive payout of just over $40,000.
