Montco First Dose Vaccination Rate Skyrockets To Near 70 Percent

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — Montgomery County's vaccination rate is skyrocketing, but community clinics across the area will be closed for Memorial Day weekend.

The county has now given 70 percent of its residents age 12 and up at least one dose of the vaccine, and 99.8 percent of residents 65 and up have at least one dose.

"I'm incredibly proud of the progress we've made but I don't want us to let up," Montgomery County Commissioner Val Arkoosh said. "If you haven't already, I urge you to head over to one of our County sites and get vaccinated. We're offering a variety of weekday and weekend hours and walk ups continue to be welcome at all of our clinics. The more people who get vaccinated, the better our chances will be to keep these trends going in the right direction."

The county's clinics will be shut down from Friday, May 28, through Monday, May 31, in recognition of the holiday.

In addition, the county's COVID-19 testing sites will operate on a limited schedule on Friday, and will be shut down on Monday. On Friday, only the Willow Grove, Ardmore, and Green Lane sites will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Officials are holding a virtual town hall meeting Thursday to advocate for the importance of vaccinating children, and to answer any questions from the public. Learn more on that event and how to sign up here.

Meanwhile, the county's percent positivity rate and new cases continue to plummet, with the rate now all the way down to 3.19 percent.

The county's vaccination sites will reopen next Tuesday. Here's a full list of where residents can be vaccinated:

• Bethel Community Church, 575 North Keim St., Pottstown, PA 19464 (Weekday and Saturday hours)
• Bethlehem Baptist Church, 712 Penllyn Pike, Spring House, PA 19477 (All Saturdays in May)
• King of Prussia Mall, (former JC Penney), 160 North Gulph Road, #A110, King of Prussia, PA 19406 (Located on the 2nd level of the former JC Penney, across from True Food Kitchen and Shake Shack. Please enter from the parking lot. The entrance inside the mall is closed.)
• Montgomery Mall (former Sears), 804 Bethlehem Pike, Suite 600, North Wales, PA 19454 (Located on the 2nd level of the former Sears location, near the food court entrance. The entrance inside the mall is closed.)
• Parkside Shopping Center (between Planet Fitness and Rally House), 2522 West Moreland Road, Willow Grove, PA 1909

All members of the public 12 and older are eligible for the vaccine.
