MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — Special tours to celebrate Juneteenth, which honors the freedom of formerly enslaved peoples in the United States, will be held in Montgomery County.
The tours will be held at the Peter Wentz Farmstead, a Montgomery County park and historical site which was recently added to the National Parks Service's National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom Program.
"(Tours will) share the story of Jack, an enslaved person who sought and escaped to freedom from the farm in the 18th century," the event description reads. "Jack was captured after his first attempt to escape but eventually gained freedom on his second try. What happened to Jack following the escape is unknown."
