Montco Native Competing On American Ninja Warrior Jr.: Report
A Montgomery County resident will reportedly compete on the debut season of "American Ninja Warrior Jr."

PLYMOUTH MEETING, PA — A Montgomery County fifth grader will compete for a national championship when a new television show debuts this weekend.
"American Ninja Warrior Jr.'s" premier, set for Saturday, will feature Willie Waerig, a Plymouth Meeting resident, according to a recent report from Philly.com.
Waerig was "fast and athletic, but non-confrontational" his mother told Philly.com, and he didn't enjoy other sports. But when he began competing in regional ninja sports events, it was clear he'd found his calling.

He competed in local events before advancing to a national level competition, placing fifth in the 6-8 age group. But he didn't stop there. He went on to the casting call for "American Ninja Warrior Jr.," where he auditioned beside some 3,000 additional candidates, the report states. He was one of less than 200 chosen to compete.
The show, a spin-off of NBC's "American Ninja Warrior," debuts at 7 p.m. on Oct. 13 on the Universal Kids channel.
