Montgomery County Joins Giving Tuesday
By James Boyle The growing annual initiative has made its way to Montgomery County this year. Donate now at participating websites.

Montgomery County non-profits have joined the annual effort to promote the giving spirit of the holiday season by signing on to the county’s own Giving Tuesday website. Led by local volunteers, GivingTuesdayMontco.org features links to donation pages for 19 local organizations, including the Upper Moreland Free Public Library, the North Penn YMCA, and the Horsham Neighbors Association.
Any certified non-profits interested in being added to the site have until Nov. 15, 2014 to submit the application. The Giving Tuesday initiative began in 2012, with 10,000 organizations in 46 countries participating in 2013. The website, created as a donation from Doylestown tech company IQNection, does not accept the actual donations. Instead, it hosts the links to each non-profit’s donation pages, meaning that interested organizations must be able to accept online donations.
Charitable contributions can be made at any time, but a big push will soon start to build toward the scheduled Giving Tuesday event on Dec. 2, after Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
