Child-Support Delinquents To Get Week of Amnesty in Montco
The Montgomery County Sheriff's Department will hold a press conference Wednesday to discuss a one-time amnesty program for delinquent child support payments.

In a collaborative effort between the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department, the Domestic Relations Office and the Court of Common Pleas, an amnesty program is being offered to those who have warrants for delinquent child support payments.
The details of the program will be discussed during a press conference 10:30 a.m Wednesday at the Montgomery County Courthouse, Swede Entrance in Norristown.
"The amnesty program gives delinquent child support payors with outstanding bench warrants an opportunity avoid penalties, arrest and prosecution by voluntarily making payment arrangements with the Domestic Relations Office," according to a press release.

According to the release, the one-time amnesty program is in effect during regular business hours from June 10 to June 14.
The release further states that people facing delinquent child support payment penalties could be:

- Apprehended to the full extent of the law and face up to six months in jail
- Jeopardize professional occupational licenses
- Be reported to the credit bureaus
- Have a lien placed on their property
- Have federal and state income tax refunds intercepted
- Â Have their names, addresses and available photographs sent to area media outlets for publication
- Be referred to the U.S. Attorney's Office for prosecution if residing outside of the Commonwealth
Montgomery Couny Sheriif Eileen Whalon Behr, director of Domestic Relations Gary Kline, and Enforcement Unit assistant director Rebecca Colantuno are expected to attend the press conference.
