Next Phase To Begin On $54M Project To Improve U.S. 202 In Montco

Five-foot bike lanes in both directions, new sidewalks, a reconstructed bridge, and more are coming to 202.

NORRISTOWN, PA — A major construction project is slated to begin later this month to widen and rebuild a stretch of U.S. 202 in Montgomery County.

Crews will begin work on Wednesday, June 23 to improve a 1.8 mile stretch of road from Johnson Highway to Township Line Road. Construction will cover parts of Norristown, Whitpain, and East Norriton.

Alternating lane closures will be in place in both directions during off-peak travel hours, PennDOT said, and weekend detours will be in place. Work will begin on Wednesday, June 23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Work will include five-foot bicycle lanes in both directions, new sidewalks, sound walls and retaining walls, pavement markings, new signage, drainage improvements, and Intelligent Transportation Systems technology.
