Norristown Area High School Students Stage Peaceful Protest

Students were upset teacher who allegedly made racist comment was suspended for just two days

Norristown Area High School students walked out of school Tuesday morning in protest of what they believed was too lenient of a punishment for a teacher who made an alleged racist comment, according to the Times Herald.

The report says more than 100 students joined the 20-minute protest, which was organized via social media. The students, who walked out at 8 a.m., were upset that a teacher, who made the comment on a media Web site last month, received just a two-day suspension.

District Superintendent Janet Samuels reportedly held an early morning question-and-answer session with the students to discuss the disciplinary process and suspension.
