Norristown Area Lane Closures In Place On 202 This Week

NORRISTOWN, PA — Road closures are scheduled for construction this week during the daytime hours in the Norristown area, potentially leading to traffic delays. Construction crews are adding bicycle lanes and widening stretches of road along U.S. 202.

About 1.8 miles of U.S. 202 will see alternately lane closures from Monday, June 28 through Friday, July 2, PennDOT announced.

The closures will be in place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. between Johnson Highway and Township Line Road, impacting parts of Norristown, East Norriton, and Whitpain.

Five-foot bicycle lanes will be added, the road will be widened from two lanes to three lanes, with a center turn lane. New sidewalks, sound walls, retaining walls, traffic signals, and pavement markings will also be added.

  • U.S. 202 (Dekalb Pike) between Johnson Highway and Swede Road;
  • Germantown Pike between Mill Road and Hannah Avenue;
  • Township line Road between Butchers Lane and Dekalb Boulevard; and
  • Johnson Highway between Bradbury Drive and Old Arch Road.
