Norristown Dragon Boat Club to Participate in Ancient Eye Dotting

The community is invited to a special and ancient Chinese ceremony to 'awaken the dragon' through the ritual of eye dotting.

Dragon Boating is the way it sounds: intense.

According to www.dragonboatclub.org, the ancient Chinese competition involves a mixed team of men and women with 20 paddlers, one drummer and one steers-person on a single water vessel that is shaped and decorated to look like a dragon.

As previously reported on Norristown Patch, the Dragon Boat Club of Norristown started out in Boathouse Row in Philadelphia over 15 years ago before relocating to Norristown’s Rverfront Park, located at Haws Avenue.
