First Home Track Meet in over 20 Years Scheduled for Norristown High
The Eagles will break in the new track with a home meet against Cheltenham on March 22.

It's an event more than two decades in the making. Norristown Area High School will be celebrating its first home track meet in over 20 years on March 22. Norristown Varsity Track will take on Cheltenham High School at 3:30 p.m.
This historic event will kick off at 3 p.m. with guest speaker Ron "Ronnie" Livers. Livers, a Class of 1973 alum, is one of Norristown’s most recognized track superstars. The Montgomery County Sports Hall of Famer was the two-time PIAA triple jump champion in 1972 and 1973 and took the 1973 high jump crown. His 1973 triple jump performance was good for the National championship.
At San Jose University, Livers was a three-time NCAA triple jump champion and set records for best triple jump and high jump in the same meet. In AAU competition he was a three-time USA National Indoor triple jump champion in 1978, 1979 and 1980. Livers was favored to compete in the 1980 Summer Olympics, that were ultimately boycotted by the US.
