There's Still 1 PA County With Substantial COVID Spread: New Data

Coronavirus still exists in Pennsylvania, but it is rapidly dwindling. Here's a look at the most recent statistics.

PENNSYLVANIA — Pennsylvania is reaching some of the lowest numbers of the pandemic, as its percent positivity rate on COVID-19 tests is now all the way down to 1.9 percent.

That's a drop of a full percentage point from last week, and a drop of nearly 8 points from late April, when the the fourth wave of the virus was in full swing. Gov. Tom Wolf urged residents to get the vaccine as the state works to reach a coveted benchmark of fully vaccinating 70 percent of adults.

“We are seeing COVID-19 case counts increasing at a much lower pace, but we still see Pennsylvanians contract the virus each day,” Gov. Wolf said in a statement. “As you learn about the benefits of getting vaccinated, consider telling your family and friends more about it and encourage them to get the best protection to fight COVID-19 and make your community a safer place."
