Pennrose Development Project Planned for DeKalb and Airy Sparks Protest
A public information meeting about the proposed new mixed-income apartment complex brought a mixed reaction from some residents.

According to The Times Herald, a public meeting scheduled to provide information about a new mixed-income apartment complex proposed by Philadelphia-based developer Pennrose Properties brought out residents both supportive and opposed to the planned development at DeKalb and Airy streets in Norristown.Â
While council members and supporters view the project – which would feature subsidized rents for some of the 96 units and lofts meant to be used for both living and studio space – as a means to lure artists and other creative types to Norristown's budding Arts Hill area, some residents questioned how effective the project would be at attracting artists and whether or not even the subsidized rents would be affordable enough for the target audience.
